NYLT Staff Sign-ups Happening Now!

Welcome back Alumni and 2014 graduates! You are invited to get behind the scenes of what it takes to develop leaders and run an operation all while having fun. You are among a special group of leaders and we thank you for continuing to expand your servant leadership abilities by mentoring youth eager to learn your ways!   

Our fantastic week at Lost Valley starts on June 27, 2015 as staff arrives between 10 am -12 pm to “be prepared” for our participants. On June 28, 2015, participants will arrive at noon and the course continues through July 3, 2015. 

How soon can you interview? 
Wednesday, December 10th, 2014 / 7-9 pm                       
Saturday, December 13th, 2014 / 8-10 am
Saturday (This date is for make-ups), January 10th, 2015 / 8 am to 2 pm

Please email Youth Course Director, Jenny Jones at jennyjonesnylt@gmail.com and Assistant Youth Course Director, Noah Zedek at nzedek@apcx.net to schedule your interview date and time.

What you need to bring with you to the interview is your typed application. All forms are fill-in ready on-line at http://nylt.ocbsa.org. If you are a graduate, please bring information about the status of your Leadership Challenge as well.

Applications are being accepted for Summer Camp Staff-

Do you know anyone who is passionate about teaching and inspiring youth? Who loves to make new friends and get away from it all for weeks at a time? If you can think of that person who doesn’t mind getting a tan that washes off in the shower every night, then let them know about the amazing opportunity of being on SSRLV summer staff. I am accepting applications and have started interviews to fill the 70+ positions that make summer camp happen! I myself worked on summer camp staff for 15 years and can honestly say it improved my work ethic and leadership skills. Not to mention that it taught me how to budget the money I made so I didn’t have to work during the school year and could focus on my studies. Here is a link to our application for camp staff. The article does a great job of explaining the importance of developing youth and adult leaders…not just sending them to a training course and believing they are “trained”. The calendar page of the troop website has current information and registration details about all youth and adult leadership development courses offered in the Orange County Council. A few that may catch your attention…

2015 National Order of the Arrow Conference

Wiatava Lodge #13Need an unusual gift idea for a Scout or Scouter?  A down payment towards the 2015 National Order of the Arrow Conference is the perfect fit! This event packed conference marks the 100th anniversary of the Order of the Arrow, and you do not want to miss it! The  sounds like a long from now, but it is really just around the corner and the earlier you plan the better off you are! A $100.00 deposit is all that is needed to save a seat on "Wiatava 1", our chartered 737 from Orange County to East Lansing, Michigan.  The sooner the lodge has 100 contingent members signed up with their deposits in place, the sooner they can book the plane, locking in the fuel cost, which will result in lower costs for participants (numerous fundraising opportunities will be made avaialble as well).
